Sankranthi has always been the season for Telugu movie fans, when families flock to theaters to catch the biggest releases amidst festive cheer. And boy, is Sankranthi 2026 shaping up to be a wild one! Four major films have already staked their claim on this prime holiday window, promising a box-office clash that’s got everyone talking. With over six months to go, the hype is real, and it’s only gonna get crazier.
First up, we’ve Jana Nayakudu, the Telugu dubbed version of Thalapathy Vijay’s final film before he enters politics. Directed by H. Vinoth and backed by KVN Productions, this one’s hitting screens on January 9th. The teaser, The First Roar, dropped on Vijay’s birthday, and fans are already losing it. Nobody’s spilling the beans on the plot yet, but whispers suggest it might have a Bhagavanth Kesari vibe. With Vijay’s massive following and this being his cinematic swan song, Jana Velugu is set to light up the early Sankranthi buzz.
Then there’s Mega161, with none other than Megastar Chiranjeevi teaming up with director Anil Ravipudi, who’s practically a Sankranthi specialist. Ravipudi’s known for dishing out fun, family-friendly blockbusters, and paired with Chiru’s larger-than-life charisma, this one’s gonna be a total crowd-pleaser. We’re still waiting on details like the story or cast, but if it’s Chiru and Ravipudi, you know it’s gonna pack a punch.
Adding some fresh energy is Anaganaga Oka Raju, led by the super-lovable Naveen Polishetty. Dropping on January 14th, this rom-com with Meenakshi Chaudhary looks like the perfect mix of laughs and heart for young folks and families. Naveen’s got this knack for winning over everyone, so don’t be surprised if this underdog steals some thunder.
And rounding things out is RT76, starring mass favorite Ravi Teja, directed by Kishore Tirumala, and also eyeing January 14th. Produced by SLV Cinemas, it’s another family entertainer with Ravi Teja’s signature high-octane vibe. With Kishore at the helm, expect a solid story that hits all the right notes for the festive crowd.
What’s cool about this lineup is that all four films are going for that family-friendly vibe, which is so perfect for Sankranthi. But with everyone gunning for the same audience, it’s gonna be a mad scramble for theater screens and ticket sales. Sankranthi’s always a goldmine, but four biggies at once? That’s next-level intense. Like we’ve seen before, only the films with killer word-of-mouth will keep pulling crowds after the opening weekend.
As we get closer, expect teasers, trailers, and promos to drop left and right, cranking up the excitement. Will Jana Nayakudu give Vijay the ultimate send-off? Can Mega161 prove Chiru’s still king? Will Anaganaga Oka Raju or RT76 sneak in and surprise everyone? We’ll find out soon enough, but one thing’s for sure: Sankranthi 2026 is gonna be a Tollywood party you won’t wanna miss.
