Ajay Devgn is back as the tough IRS officer Amay Patnaik in Raid 2, the sequel to the 2018 hit Raid. This one has got clever moves, corruption and drama galore. Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, Amay is up against a clever politician, Dada Manohar Bhai (Riteish Deshmukh). The story is set in the fictional town of Bhoj, Rajasthan in the late 80s. Raid 2 was released on May 1, 2025 and is now streaming on Netflix from June 26, 2025. The film has a thrilling chase and ends in a way that’s satisfying but leaves some questions unanswered. Let’s break it down and what it means for Amay, Dada Bhai and Raid 3. Spoilers ahead!
The movie starts with Amay making a plan. He takes a bribe to get posted in Bhoj, where Dada Bhai the politician, keeps his black money behind a fake good image. Dada Bhai is a mama’s boy who runs a charity in his mom’s name. People like him in the area but he is hiding a lot of illegal money from his shady business deals. Amay wants to expose him but after a failed raid and a suspension, things look bleak. The story gets more complicated as Amay digs into Dada Bhai’s past and finds a history of exploitation linked to his deceased girlfriend, Neha Rathod.
The big moment happens at a fancy hotel on Neha’s land. Amay and his team, including the clever Lallan Sudhir (Amit Sial), find a huge stash of illegal money and gold, gold taps and cash hidden in laundry rooms. Dada Bhai wants to save his empire, so he rushes into the hotel with a bunch of people and gets a court order to remove Amay’s stay order. But Amay has a plan. In a daring move, his team throws wads of cash out of the hotel windows and the mob turns against Dada Bhai as they rush to grab the money. This mess damages Dada Bhai’s reputation.
The big change happens when Amay’s wife Malini (Vaani Kapoor) gets involved. She confronts Dada Bhai’s mother, Supriya Pathak and tells her the truth about her son’s wrongdoings, including how he exploits women. The mother is heartbroken and hits Dada Bhai and his empire crumbles as many women speak out against him. Dada Bhai realizes he has lost everything—his reputation, his mother’s trust and his power—and gives up. Amay wins again and proves that everyone has to follow the law.
But the end is not clean. In the end, Rameshwar Singh, also known as Tauji (Saurabh Shukla), the antagonist from the first Raid, comes to visit Dada Bhai in jail. Tauji, who has been in jail for so long, asks Dada Bhai how he plans to come back strong. Dada Bhai gives a sly look at the camera and hints that he might have more to come. The producers have mentioned a third part, which will focus on this new partnership and the ongoing fight against corruption.
The end is strong because it’s a clear conclusion with some uncertainty. Amay wins the battle but the war against deep-rooted corruption continues. The mob’s excitement for the money shows how greed can turn even the most devoted fan against their leader. And Malini’s actions show how personal connections can expose a villain’s true self. Some felt the end was too quick and didn’t have the excitement of the first Raid. The film’s use of dramatic effects like slow motion and loud sound effects sometimes makes it less real than the original.
So what’s next? The last scene hints at a tougher and more complicated villain in Raid 3, with Dada Bhai teaming up with Tauji. Amay, who is now smarter and more cautious, knows the problems in the system better than before. The end leaves us wondering will Dada Bhai be cleverer than Amay next time or will the IRS officer stay ahead of him? One thing is for sure Raid 2 promises an exciting future for this franchise, even if it’s not as good as the first film.
